PENNY’S PRAYER ROOM™ | EPISODE 09
When Silence Hurts: Taking Our Pain to God
Written by deZengo® | Published by Patchwork Publishing™
Welcome
Welcome back to Penny’s Prayer Room. Today, we are sitting with something tender. We are talking about the kind of pain people do not always see—the kind that sits behind a smile, behind a busy day, and behind the words, “I’m fine,” when the truth is… we are not fine.
Sometimes silence hurts.
Sometimes we are quiet because we do not know how to explain what happened.
Sometimes we are quiet because we are afraid no one will understand.
Sometimes we are quiet because the grief is too heavy, the shame too loud, or the relationship too broken.
And sometimes, we are just tired. Tired of trying to be strong. Tired of carrying things we were never meant to carry alone.
The Invitation: Taking It to God
Today, I want us to remember something simple and holy: We can take our pain to God.
Not the cleaned-up version. Not the version we think sounds "spiritual." We bring the real hurt, the real confusion, and the real weight.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)
This verse does not tell us to hide the ugly parts or wait until we have a perfect explanation. It tells us to cast all of it. The things we caused, the things done to us, the losses we cannot fix, and the ache we cannot outrun.
God does not look at a hurting heart and say, “That is too much for Me.” He says, “Bring it to Me.”
The Promise: He is Near
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (KJV)
The Lord is nigh. He is near. He is not standing far away waiting for us to get ourselves together. He is near to the brokenhearted, near to the grieving, and near to the one surviving the silence.
Healing begins when we bring the truth to Jesus. He doesn't just notice the wound; He binds it up. He gets close enough to touch what hurts. He is not scared of our questions, and He is not confused by our tears.
The Prayer of Surrender
Father, I come to You today with the places in me that still hurt. Some I can explain; some I cannot. You see the grief, the regret, the shame, and the silence. You see the things I carry that no one else knows about.
Lord, Your Word says to cast all my care upon You, because You care for me. I am not pretending it doesn't hurt. I am not pretending I have the answers. I need Your comfort, Your wisdom, and Your mercy. Lord, come near to the broken places. Bind up what is wounded. Help me release what I cannot fix, repent where I need to repent, and forgive where I need to forgive.
For anyone listening who feels alone, remind them that they are not forgotten. You are the healer of broken hearts. Thank You for meeting us in the silence.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Closing Thoughts
If this episode met you in a tender place, please remember: You do not have to carry your pain alone. You can take it to God—one prayer, one truth, one stitch at a time.
