Chapter One - My Story

My earliest memories are not filled with childhood wonder. Instead, they are memories of survival. I spent those early years trying to understand what was wrong with the world I was born into, quietly wondering if maybe the problem was me. I did not dare to dream. I did not expect or even hope to live long enough to need one.
Growing up, I learned to brace myself instead of believe. Dreaming felt reckless. Hope felt naïve. Safety felt temporary. I learned early how to stay small, how to read a room before I spoke, and how to anticipate tension before it arrived.
The Weight of Words
Over time, certain words followed me like shadows:
Not smart enough
Not capable enough
Not someone who would ever truly be chosen
These words echoed in quiet rooms. They whispered doubts when I made decisions. They questioned me when I tried to believe in myself. The weight of those words was heavy, but even in the darkness, in what felt like dirt, God was there.
Not always loudly. Not always with immediate rescue. But faithfully.
When everything around me felt unstable, He was steady. When I questioned my worth, He did not. When I felt buried, He was already working beneath the surface.
A Life-Changing Decision
There are deep truths in my story that may or may not be told in full detail. Some chapters require discernment. But if sharing them ever becomes the bridge someone else needs to cross their own valley, I will not withhold them.
My life truly began to change when I did something that made no sense on paper. By the world’s standards, I was unqualified. I had never lived alone. Never managed money independently. Never built a life from scratch.
And yet, by faith, I moved to a city where I knew no one. I had nothing but obedience and a quiet conviction that God was calling me forward.
Ground zero.

No safety net. No backup plan. No applause.
The only members of my original dream team were me and God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The First Nights
The first nights were not peaceful. There was a murder in the neighborhood. Drug deals on one side of the street. Prostitution on the other. Needles in my tree.
It was a harsh reality to face alone. But in that environment, I learned to trust the steady presence that never left me. I learned that faith is not about immediate rescue but about steady strength.
I learned to hold onto hope even when it felt naïve. I learned that safety might feel temporary, but it can be found in unexpected places.
Moving Forward with Faith
This story is not just about hardship. It is about the quiet power of faith and obedience. It is about moving forward when the path is unclear and the world says you are not enough.
If you find yourself in a valley, remember that steady presence beneath the surface is working even when you cannot see it. You are not alone.

My story is just beginning. But the lessons I have learned so far are clear: faith can carry you through the darkest places, and sometimes the most unlikely beginnings lead to the strongest journeys.

This is absolutely beautiful and so relatable. Thank you for sharing a piece of yourself
