High above the clouds, far away from the chaotic noise of the kingdom below, Penny sat quietly on the back of a dragon.
It was a creature that most people feared. Not because it was evil, but because people had already decided what dragons were supposed to become:
Dangerous.
Destructive.
Uncontrollable.
And if we’re being completely honest… we do that to each other, too.
The Whispers of the World
Some people are born into immense pain. They grow up surrounded by anger, fear, abuse, rejection, loneliness, or a darkness so deep it feels entirely impossible to escape. Eventually, when you stay in that environment long enough, the world starts whispering a lie into your ear:
“This is just who you are. This is all you will ever be.”
But Penny leaned close to the dragon, looked past the scales and the fearsome reputation, and reminded it of a powerful truth:
“You are more than what you were born as.”
That message isn’t just for dragons. It’s for every single person who has ever been labeled by their past or their pain:
Too broken.
Too damaged.
Too emotional.
Too angry.
Too far gone.
The truth is this: Pain may shape parts of our story, but it does not get to dictate our future.
What It Really Means to "Armor UP"
This is exactly why we talk about what it means to Armor UP.
We aren't talking about building walls to hurt others, nor are we talking about pretending we never struggle. This is about spiritual and emotional armor—the kind that protects your heart in a world that constantly tries to harden it.
True strength is a paradox. It doesn't look like what the world tells us it should look like.
Real strength is not becoming cold.
Real strength is staying kind when bitterness feels easier.
Real strength is choosing compassion when the world expects rage.
Real strength is looking at your reflection—even after everything you’ve survived—and believing God can still create something beautiful from your story.
The Power of Choice
The dragon in Penny’s journey didn’t become truly powerful the moment it learned to breathe fire. It became powerful the moment it realized it had a choice.
And so do we. Every single day, we are faced with a crossroad.
We can choose healing. We can choose truth. We can choose to protect instead of destroy. We can choose to become safe people in an unsafe world.
That is the essence of what it means to Armor UP. It’s not about becoming monsters to fight monsters… it’s about facing the darkness without losing the light God placed inside us.
